Description

The Great Clock in Rouen. The clock mechanism was built in 1389, but the clock became visible on both sides only in 1527. It is an astronomical clock that shows the time of day (using only one clock hand), the phase of the moon (with a rotating sphere), and the day of the week. The days of the week are indicated with ancient symbols: Moon, Mars, Mercury, Jupiter, Venus, Saturn and the Sun.
